Buildings by day, people by evening
Samarkand's best-known sights are buildings. Wikipedia names Registan Square, the Gur-i Amir mausoleum, the Bibi-Khanym Mosque and the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis as the city's iconic symbols, well known for their cobalt and turquoise majolica tilework. A concert hall adds the living side of the same culture: dance, costume and music, performed in a seat you can sit in.
